What is "Kennel Cough"?

One of the highly contagious respiratory conditions to which our pets can be exposed is Canine Infectious Tracheobronchitis, better known as “Kennel Cough”, produced mainly by microorganisms such as the Bordetella Bronchiseptica bacteria or the canine Parainfluenza virus.

Vaccinate him on time

Currently we have vaccines that have an application system with an ergonomic pipette that facilitates oral administration. By not requiring syringes, it provides a stress-free experience for the veterinarian, the pet and its owner.  In addition, it provides quick and effective protection when administered directly to the dog's oral mucosa.

Kennel Cough, as its name suggests, is usually a very common disease in places where many dogs are concentrated, such as boarding houses and parks. The means by which it is transmitted is the air and by direct contact, as occurs with the common flu in humans. It is characterized by symptoms such as severe cough, eye discharge, sneezing and lethargy. In more severe cases, fever, vomiting may occur and, if not treated in time, could cause pneumonia and even death.

In order to make an accurate diagnosis, the owner must take their pet to the veterinarian where their health will be evaluated. If it is confirmed that it is Canine Infectious Tracheobronchitis, the most common treatment is with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories.

Puppies are easy targets for contracting this disease, while those who are geriatric can suffer complications. Fortunately, this condition can be prevented through vaccination and, in this way, provide them with greater security and quality of life.
